Lucas Kowal of Kowal and Son LLC was honored by Kanapaha Middle School band directors Michael Loffredo and Summer Atteberry with an Instrument Repair Award in recognition of his craftsmanship and generosity. Lucas purchased and fully restored three student clarinets—a Selmer 1400, a Leblanc Vito Model 7214, and a Evette —completing comprehensive overhauls including key polishing, replacement of key and tenon corks, new pads, and full mechanical regulation to bring each instrument back to like-new playing condition. He then donated these instruments to the Kanapaha Middle School band program to support young musicians. Having studied under Mr. Loffredo for the past three years, Lucas credits both directors for their mentorship, encouragement, and dedication to fostering a positive and inspiring musical environment. This donation reflects his desire to give back and help provide future students with the same opportunities and experiences that shaped his own musical journey.
Lucas wants Mr Loffredo and Ms Atteberry to know he could not have accomplished the things he did during his time at Kanapaha without them!
