Kowal and Son LLC is proud to share that three beautifully refurbished clarinets are beginning a new chapter at Kanapaha Middle School. These instruments, once sitting unused, have been carefully brought back to life so they can help the next generation of students make music together.
Over the past several weeks, Lucas and I worked side by side in the shop, completely overhauling a Selmer 1400, a Bundy Resonite, and a German‑made Evette clarinet. We replaced pads and corks, cleaned and polished the bodies and keys, regulated the mechanisms, and play‑tested each instrument until they were reliable, responsive, and ready for student use. The goal was simple: turn quality instruments into dependable tools that young players can trust.
Donating these clarinets to Kanapaha’s band program is our way of giving something back to the school that has done so much for Lucas and for our family. Strong instruments mean more students can participate, sections can grow, and the overall sound of the ensemble can continue to improve. When a program has solid equipment, it frees teachers to focus on teaching music, not fighting with failing gear.
We are especially grateful to Band Director Mr. Michael Loffredo, Assistant Band Director Miss Atterbury, and Principal Estes for the time, care, and encouragement they pour into Kanapaha’s students. Their support has made a real difference in Lucas’s life, and this donation is meant to help them keep building the kind of band program where students feel seen, challenged, and supported.
Our hope is that these instruments will serve many players over many years and play a small part in helping Kanapaha Middle School’s band program continue to grow and thrive.
